Samsung Notes has become one of the most capable note-taking apps I have used on Android. While I originally relied on it only for quick notes, it has gradually evolved into an essential part of my daily workflow.
One of its standout features is Screen Off Memo, which works seamlessly with the S Pen on my Galaxy S25 Ultra. It allows me to begin writing immediately without unlocking my phone, making note-taking incredibly convenient.
The app also includes impressive drawing tools, along with a wide selection of page templates, backgrounds, and layout options that make organizing notes much more flexible.
Beyond basic note-taking, Samsung Notes handles more advanced tasks with ease. I can annotate and edit PDF files, insert sticky notes and tables, work with simple mathematical formulas, and even protect sensitive notes with a password.
The integration with Gemini further enhances the experience. It can summarize lengthy notes, generate new notes from AI-produced responses, and quickly locate specific information hidden inside older documents. At this stage, Samsung Notes feels much more like a complete productivity platform than a pre-installed application.
Samsung Reminders
A More Intelligent Way to Stay Organized
Samsung Reminders turned out to be far more powerful than I expected from a built-in task management app. It allows me to create reminders using natural language, attach notes and supporting details, schedule specific dates and times, and even set location-based reminders that activate when I arrive at a particular place.
To stay organized, I separate tasks into custom categories such as work, personal errands, deadlines, shopping lists, and recurring household responsibilities. This prevents the app from becoming another cluttered list of unfinished tasks.
Its clean, modern interface is another advantage. Navigation feels intuitive, while the floating action bar keeps the most frequently used options easily accessible.
What truly makes Samsung Reminders stand out is the way it prioritizes notifications. Important reminders can take over the entire screen, making it much harder to ignore a task and forget about it shortly afterward.
The built-in Gemini integration makes creating reminders even easier. I can simply ask the assistant to remind me to call someone tomorrow afternoon or buy groceries when I arrive at a certain location, and it automatically creates the appropriate reminder.
Gemini can also search through my reminders, making it easy to locate tasks from a specific category whenever I need them.
Samsung Gallery
Fast, Private, and Feature-Rich Photo Management
Samsung Gallery has become my preferred photo management app because it delivers a cleaner and faster experience than Google Photos. As a local-first application, photos appear instantly without waiting for cloud synchronization, loading recommendations, or navigating through backup prompts.
Its built-in editor, powered by Galaxy AI, offers an impressive range of editing tools. I can crop images, apply filters, perform generative AI edits, describe desired modifications, and make quick adjustments without opening another application.
Samsung Studio expands these capabilities by allowing me to create polished videos using photos and video clips.
I also value the integration with Private Album and Secure Folder, which makes protecting sensitive photos with biometric authentication simple and convenient.
Samsung Gallery supports Gemini as well, although my experience with the integration has been somewhat inconsistent. For example, when I asked Gemini to locate photos of keyboards, it returned several unrelated images alongside the correct results.
Samsung My Files
A Powerful File Manager Without the Extra Cost
Samsung My Files is another built-in app that I underestimated for years. I assumed that advanced file management required a premium third-party application, but Samsung’s solution already includes nearly everything I need.
Its interface is clean, well-organized, and highly customizable. One feature I particularly appreciate is the detailed storage analysis, which clearly shows how much space is occupied by images, videos, documents, installation packages, downloads, and other large files. This makes storage management much more efficient.
The app also identifies duplicate files and folders, eliminating the need for a separate storage analyzer.
Samsung My Files extends well beyond local storage management. It supports OneDrive, Google Drive, USB storage devices, memory cards, and even network storage, allowing me to manage files across multiple locations from a single interface.
For my daily workflow, it strikes an excellent balance between simplicity and advanced functionality.

Samsung’s built-in apps have evolved far beyond the basic utilities I once overlooked. Samsung Notes has become my primary workspace for ideas and research, Samsung Reminders keeps my schedule organized, Samsung Gallery offers much more than simple photo viewing, and Samsung My Files simplifies file management without requiring additional software.
Most importantly, these apps work seamlessly together, eliminating the need to maintain multiple subscriptions and separate accounts. While specialized third-party apps may still appeal to some users, Samsung’s built-in alternatives have proven to be more than capable for my everyday productivity needs.
