Summary
The 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA is not just electric—it’s now your third workspace, complete with Microsoft Teams and video calls on the move.
If your idea of driving includes nothing more than good music and casual conversation, you’re not alone.
But for professionals glued to their meeting calendars, Mercedes-Benz is bringing the office to the road—literally.
The German luxury automaker has teamed up with Microsoft to embed Microsoft Teams Meetings directly into its 2026 CLA, an all-electric compact sedan.
This marks the first time drivers can join Teams video calls using the car’s built-in interior camera, even while driving.
Work on Wheels—Without Breaking the Law
While this may sound like a highway hazard, Mercedes-Benz has carefully considered driver safety and international regulations.
According to the automaker, when the car is in motion:
-
The video feed is disabled for the driver.
-
Shared screens or slides are not visible.
-
The interior camera remains on, allowing your video feed to continue—but only for your colleagues.
In essence, your teammates can see you, but you won’t be distracted by visual content during the meeting.
“Given the brand’s focus on safety, the use of the camera abides by the laws of each country and has been approved for use while the vehicle is in motion,” Mercedes-Benz said in a press release.
When the car is in park, however, full video conferencing functionality is restored.
You can view participants, presentations, and shared screens—just as you would at your desk.
A Teams Dashboard Right on the Dashboard
Alongside the Teams app, Mercedes-Benz is introducing a dedicated dashboard interface on the CLA’s screen, enabling drivers to:
-
View upcoming calendar events
-
Read and send messages
-
Join or initiate meetings
-
Use voice prompts for basic commands
This is all powered by MB.OS, the automaker’s custom operating system built to seamlessly integrate digital productivity tools into the driving experience.
Enter Microsoft 365 Copilot—Your AI Assistant on the Road
Beyond video conferencing, Mercedes-Benz is also working with Microsoft to incorporate Microsoft 365 Copilot into its vehicles.
This AI-driven assistant will let drivers:
-
Summarize emails
-
Create meeting notes
-
Handle to-do lists
-
Use voice input for task management
Think of it as your AI coworker in the car, keeping you updated and productive—without having to touch a keyboard.
“Through our industry-leading collaboration with Microsoft, we are making it even easier for our customers to stay productive while on the move,” said Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Group.
A Third Workspace? Not Everyone’s Dream
For some, this innovation could be game-changing. For others, it might feel like a boundary crossed.
The idea of turning your car into a “third workplace” might blur the lines between work and personal time more than ever before.
Still, for road warriors, executives, and remote workers, this could be the ultimate solution to staying connected without sacrificing mobility.
