One implementation detail that stands out is support for multiple Canvas tabs within a single conversation.
For example, I can keep:
- A data table
- A draft brief
- An SVG mockup
open simultaneously and switch between them without interrupting my workflow.
Version management is equally polished, offering:
- Navigation between previous drafts
- Detailed change tracking
- One-click restoration of earlier versions
How Vibe Compares With ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini
Comparing Canvas implementations highlights how effectively Mistral designed this feature.
Claude Artifacts performs well for generating standalone HTML, SVG, and React projects, but each artifact remains isolated with no native multi-tab support.
ChatGPT Canvas offers a smooth editing experience for text and code through highlight-and-edit functionality. However, it lacks multiple Canvas tabs, Marp presentation previews, and integrated mockup iteration.
Gemini Canvas handles document and code editing competently but frequently depends on Google Slides for presentation workflows, interrupting an otherwise seamless experience.
Scheduled Tasks Became Surprisingly Useful
Automation Without a Paid Subscription
One feature I never expected to rely on regularly is Scheduled Tasks.
Creating one only requires:
- A prompt
- A schedule (once, daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly)
- A specific execution time
After setup, Vibe runs the task automatically and delivers a notification when the results are ready.
These aren’t simple reminders or saved prompts with timers.
Scheduled Tasks execute through Work Mode, allowing them to use:
- Skills
- Connectors
- Web search
- Libraries
- Projects
As a result, tasks can actively perform work instead of simply reminding you about something.
Initially, I created a few scheduled tasks as experiments. They quickly became permanent because of their practical value.
One example is a weekly AI news digest that gathers the week’s most significant announcements and delivers a structured summary that takes only a few minutes to review.
Competing Platforms Reserve Automation for Paid Users
This is another area where Vibe’s free offering stands out.
By comparison:
- ChatGPT Tasks require a paid subscription.
- Gemini Scheduled Actions are also limited to paid plans.
- Claude includes scheduled tasks within Cowork, which likewise requires a paid subscription.
Mistral Vibe Is Quietly Closing the Gap
None of these advantages make ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini any less capable than they were before. Each remains an excellent AI platform, and I’ll likely continue using Claude for certain tasks.
The difference is that Mistral Vibe has consistently introduced features I use on a regular basis while making many of them available on its free tier. Meanwhile, many comparable capabilities from the larger AI platforms remain locked behind premium subscriptions.
If you’ve only explored the most well-known AI chatbots, Mistral Vibe is worth spending some time with before deciding whether it deserves a place in your workflow.
