In a strategic step reflecting its strong commitment to human capital, the Insurers Federation of Egypt announced that it is conducting a comprehensive study to establish a unified health system that would extend coverage to employees of insurance companies, retirees, intermediaries, and other professional partners in the sector.
Mr. Alaa El-Zohiry, Chairman of the Federation, stated that the initiative is part of the Federation’s strategic agenda for the new term (2025–2029). He confirmed that the General Secretariat will present the project framework to the Board of Directors during its first meeting, scheduled for September 15, 2025.
El-Zohiry emphasized that the aim is to provide a comprehensive and sustainable healthcare umbrella, ensuring health equity and strengthening the principle of professional solidarity across the insurance market. He added that the project builds upon the remarkable efforts of the joint committee formed years ago between the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) and the Federation, which continues to provide financial support for medical treatment to workers in the insurance sector.
The Federation plans to collaborate with leading medical insurance companies and Third-Party Administrators (TPAs), while also leveraging international expertise to guarantee the highest levels of efficiency, coverage, and cost-effectiveness.
Key benefits expected under the proposed system:
-
Comprehensive medical coverage (check-ups, treatments, emergencies, chronic care).
-
A wide nationwide network of healthcare providers.
-
Modern digital platforms for claims management and communication.
-
Special programs tailored for retirees and their families.
-
Flexible coverage options for intermediaries and independent workers.
Once the Board grants its initial approval, the Federation will invite member companies and stakeholders to take part in consultative workshops to ensure that the system reflects the real needs of the industry and its workforce.
This project highlights the Federation’s broader vision for the Egyptian insurance market, aiming not only at economic growth but also at strengthening the social role of the sector and enhancing the wellbeing of the people who form its foundation.
