Alaa El-Zoheiry, Vice Chairman of GIG Life Takaful and presidential candidate for the Insurers Federation of Egypt, has revealed a bold and innovation-focused roadmap for advancing Egypt’s insurance industry over the 2025–2029 period. His strategic plan aims to capitalize on six key national opportunities that he believes will reshape the sector’s future.
Speaking at a press conference to present his election platform, El-Zoheiry outlined the six central pillars of his vision: demographic strength, digital transformation, financial inclusion and fintech, entrepreneurship and startups, the Unified Insurance Law, and the modernization of the Federation’s internal bylaws.
He emphasized that Egypt’s large and youthful population presents a significant growth opportunity for insurers, particularly in light of emerging risks such as natural disasters and environmental hazards, which will require tailored insurance solutions in the coming years.
El-Zoheiry stressed that digitalization and IT are no longer optional—they are vital to promoting insurance awareness, boosting demand, automating claims processing, and improving customer experience. He noted that financial inclusion and fintech will allow insurers to market products through e-wallets, streamline premium collection, and simplify claim disbursement.
He also highlighted the growing importance of integrating startups and SMEs into the insurance ecosystem through cooperation protocols and collaborative frameworks that reach new market segments and align with national support for entrepreneurship.
As part of his roadmap, El-Zoheiry proposed empowering the Federation’s technical committees, applying institutional work models, and signing new strategic agreements. A national two-year insurance awareness campaign is also planned, coinciding with Egypt’s upcoming presidency of the African Insurance Organization (AIO) in 2026.
The plan includes launching a compliance-focused newsletter, releasing biweekly “Quick Insurance Insight” posts on LinkedIn, finalizing standard reference policies, completing a comprehensive natural disaster policy, publishing a sustainable insurance guide, and relaunching the Federation’s official website with an improved user interface.
To ensure transparency and real-time monitoring, a full dashboard system will be introduced to track the execution of programs throughout the 2025–2029 term. Internally, the Federation will undergo restructuring and add new positions to align with evolving market demands and digital transformation trends.
In a forward-looking step, El-Zoheiry announced plans to launch an insurance hackathon alternating with the Microinsurance Conference, focusing on three core themes: product innovation, technology and AI integration, and platform-based insurance solutions.
He affirmed that the Insurers Federation of Egypt will continue organizing educational conferences and workshops, and announced the launch of a new initiative, #IFEsupportyou, to provide sector professionals with exclusive discounts and offers across various services—enhancing employee well-being and strengthening sector loyalty.
