On Monday, Ariana Grande hinted on her social media platforms that a music video for “The Boy Is Mine” was in the works.
The Eternal Sunshine singer shared a terse yet captivating preview of the video on Instagram, accompanied by the word “Meow.”
This announcement indicates that the visual for “The Boy Is Mine” will be released on Friday, June 7.
An unidentified actor is depicted in the preview as he places a drink down and then fills a restroom sink with a bucket of ice, which he then dunks his face into.
In the interim, a hand adorned with a claw-like glove creeps around the adjacent doorframe.
The video’s title and release date are displayed on the screen before the viewer can determine the identity of the entity concealed behind the door.
A little more than a week ago, Grande posted a couple of photos to the platform that admirers conjectured were from the set of an upcoming music video.
She is depicted in the photographs wearing a cat-ear headband, and her wall is adorned with “TRUE LOVE” and “BE MINE” hearts, which are situated adjacent to a painted portrait of the subject, which only reveals his lower jaw and shoulders.
Director Christian Breslauer, who was responsible for the visuals for both “Yes, And?” and “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)” from Grande’s seventh studio album, “Eternal Sunshine,” commented on her teaser and shared the sneak preview on his Instagram account.
Breslauer commented on the pop star’s post, “Grab your popcorn and get a seat.”
He also hinted that “ACT III” would be forthcoming on his page.
