According to the CHINA Daily, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a news conference on Monday at the fifth session of China’s top legislature, the 13th National People’s Congress, to address questions regarding the country’s foreign policy and diplomatic ties.
He stated that the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games have shown the world a more confident, self-reliant, open, and inclusive China, and that Beijing 2022 is a success not just for China but also for the globe. It symbolises not just the success of athletics, but also the triumph of solidarity.
On Ukraine, Wang Yi stated that China is willing to continue to play a constructive role in the continuing Ukraine issue by facilitating discussion for peace and working alongside the international community to carry out required mediation when necessary.
Wang, speaking at a press conference on the sidelines of the 13th National People’s Congress’s fifth session, said that in order to resolve the current crisis, countries must uphold the United Nations Charter’s purposes and principles, as well as respect and protect all countries’ sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The globe is in chaos, according to China’s top ambassador, and significant developments unprecedented in a century are taking place.
“In order to retain their hegemonic status, individual nations are reverting to a Cold War mentality and fomenting animosity, exacerbating the world’s difficulties,” Wang added.
“The most pressing priority right now is to keep the peace,” Wang added, urging countries to forgo the mindset of exclusive and total security and focus on peace negotiations.
Wang Yi went on to say that no matter how risky or difficult the world situation becomes, China and Russia would retain their strategic focus and gradually deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new age.
The Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council, China’s cabinet, are paying great attention to the safety of every Chinese person in Ukraine as the situation in Ukraine worsens. President Xi Jinping has expressed his worry on several occasions, asking the government to do all possible to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens abroad, according to Wang.
