At the beginning of a new African visit, Russian Foreign Minister (FM) Sergey Lavrov landed in Guinea today, Monday.
The senior Russian ambassador is expected to meet with the nation’s political leadership in Conakry, according to the Russian news agency TASS. The last time Lavrov visited Guinea for business was in February 2013.
According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, “Russian-Guinean relations are friendly, with an active political dialogue.”
The Russian-Guinean Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Trade Cooperation has been in existence since 2002, the statement continued.
The creation of a joint parliamentary committee between Guinean President Alpha Conde and Speaker of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin was settled upon at their meeting on September 27, 2017.
