Bangladesh has an exceptional opportunity to secure a series victory over Pakistan after the right-hander scored his fourth Test century.
Litton Das downplayed the importance of his fourth Test century as Bangladesh demonstrated a strong effort on the third day of their Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi.
Das entered the crease with his team in a precarious position at 26/5. He lost Shakib Al Hasan in his subsequent over, but he teamed up with Mehidy Hasan Miraz (78) and Hasan Mahmud (13*) to ensure that the second Test was evenly balanced as it entered the penultimate day on Monday.
Das, despite experiencing leg cramps throughout his innings, managed to score 138 and assist his team in maintaining their chances of winning the critical ICC World Test Championship match. He struck 13 fours and four sixes.
Das acknowledged the contributions of Mahmud and Mehidy at the conclusion of the game and stated that his innings was only slightly behind his career-best score of 141 against Sri Lanka in 2022.
“I scored 141 against Sri Lanka in the same situation.” This is an acceptable sum. I am fortunate to have been granted this opportunity, and I am exceedingly pleased,” Litton stated.
“We did not have a long-term plan.” Shakib departed early when I began working with him. Upon Miraz’s arrival, our sole topic of conversation was how to disrupt their momentum. Credit is due to Miraz. I sustained an injury as a result of being struck by the projectile. With his adept shot-making, Miraz placed Pakistan in a vulnerable position.
Pakistan was at 9/2 overnight and in urgent need of a significant partnership to attempt to establish a substantial lead heading into the final day’s play, following two wickets lost to Mahmud prior to stumps on the third day.
Das is acutely aware of the critical nature of the initial hour on Monday, as Bangladesh endeavors to further penetrate Pakistan’s batting lineup.
“The key is to bowl the new ball in the appropriate line and length.” The first 20 overs on Monday morning, which will be played with the second new ball, will be absolutely critical. Das stated, “We will be able to limit Pakistan to a low total if we are able to bowl on a good line and length.”
