Late spring will see the arrival in the United States of a high-performance version of Mercedes’ flagship electric vehicle.
The Mercedes-AMG EQS sedan will debut in 2022 as the premium brand’s first battery-electric production vehicle based on the EQ platform. It will cost $148,550 in total, including shipping.
Mercedes-Benz is electrifying the performance AMG subbrand in two stages, with plug-in hybrids and all-electric vehicles.
The AMG EQS sedan produces up to 649 horsepower with a boost function of 751 horsepower.
It includes variable all-wheel drive, which dynamically distributes drive torque between the front and rear axles according on driving conditions. The electric-only technology provides substantially quicker response times than a mechanical all-wheel-drive system.
Standard rear-axle steering enhances the sedan’s handling by up to 9 degrees.
