The distributors of the final films of the late South Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun have announced that they will be released in theaters later this year.
“Project Silence” and “The Land of Happiness” were the two films on which Lee Sun-kyun was working prior to his passing in December 2023.
According to distributor CJ ENM, the former is now scheduled for release in July and will feature the late actor in the role of a security office administrator who is stranded on a collapsingbridge.
Kim Tae-gon’s “Project Silence” will depict a group of individuals who are confronted with experimental military canines that were released during a chain-reaction collision on a bridge that is on the brink of collapse.
Ju Ji-hoon, Moon Sung-keun, Ye Soo-jung, and other actors also appear in the film.
“The Land of Happiness” is a period piece that is inspired by the assassination of former South Korean President Park Chung-hee.
This is the second undertaking.
The film will feature the late actor as Park Tae-joo, a soldier who is facing the death penalty for his involvement in a presidential assassination in 1979.
According to distributor NEW, the film is anticipated to be released in August.
In addition to Lee, “The Land of Happiness” will feature Jo Jung-suk, who portrayed counsel Jung In-hoo in “Captivating the King.”
On December 27, 2023, in the Jongno District of Seoul, South Korea, Lee Sun-kyun was discovered deceased at the age of 48.
The South Korean police had been investigating the actor on suspicion of drug use in the months leading up to his death.
