Only one of Icelandair’s 737 MAX connections to Canada was sufficiently lengthy to warrant inclusion.
Boeing 737s operate seven routes in Canada between June and September, if long-haul markets are defined as 2,600 nautical miles (4,815 km) or more. This discovery is the result of an analysis of all non-stop passenger flight schedules that airlines provide to Cirium and OAG.
The seven paths
Details regarding them are provided in the subsequent table. In 2024, they will introduce a new route: WestJet’s service between Calgary, its primary center, and Keflavik. The airport combination was served for the first time, and it was also the first time WestJet had visited Iceland. It was never included in Icelandair’s network.

Routes that are 2,600 nautical miles (4,815 km) or longer are included, as determined by the Great Circle distance.
Air Canada’s Halifax-London Heathrow and Air Saint Pierre’s wet-leased 737 link to Paris CDG are not included because they are both less than that distance, even by a small margin.
The order would be somewhat altered if maximal block times were implemented instead; even the first number would be altered.

Icelandair operates solely one route.
Between June and September, the Icelandic flag carrier will operate the 737 MAX to three Canadian airports: Halifax, Toronto, and Vancouver, either entirely or partially. Vancouver was the sole city that exceeded the distance threshold. Through September 2023, Icelandair has exclusively utilized the 757-200ER in its service to Vancouver for a decade. The MAX 8 was initially introduced in October 2023.
Icelandair’s Vancouver route will operate four weekly flights during the summer of 2024 when the MAX 8 and 757 are combined. The following is the itinerary, with all times being local:
Keflavik-Vancouver: FI697, 17:15-17:55 (7 hours and 40 minutes)
Vancouver-Keflavik: FI698, 15:40—06:00+1 (7 hours and 20 minutes)

The aircraft is required to remain overnight in Canada due to the stage duration and the necessity of maximizing two-way connectivity across Europe, without which the route would be unfeasible. This configuration is both inefficient and expensive; however, it would be even more costly if the aircraft returned promptly and failed to connect to any or numerous other flights.
