For his part in Rocky, Burt Young was also up for best supporting actor at the 1977 Oscars.
The movie won three Oscars that night.
Sylvester Stallone paid respect to Burt Young, his “dear friend” and co-star in Rocky, after he died at the age of 83.
His daughter, Anne Morea Steingieser, told the New York Times that he died on October 8 in Los Angeles. The actor was nominated for an Oscar.
Young became famous when he played Paulie Pennino in six Rocky movies with the 77-year-old.
In honor of his friend, Stallone shared an old black-and-white photo of the two of them on the set of the fighting movie series on Instagram.
“To my dear friend Burt Young, you were an amazing man and artist. I and the world will miss you very much,” he wrote with the homage. RIP.”
People sent Stallone a lot of sympathy by commenting with touching words. One person wrote, “Oh my gosh I just found out.”

“Rest in peace, Paulie!” A wonderful talent. Burt, we will miss you!” Someone else shared.
“This is such sad news,” said a third. I had the pleasure of meeting him briefly here in Philadelphia. He was the nicest person I may have ever met.

Young’s first role on TV was in an episode of The Doctors in 1969. This was the start of a long career in TV and movies.
The late star was in many movies and TV shows, such as The Sopranos, M*A*S*H*, Walker, Texas Ranger, Miami Vice, Law & Order, and the Rodney Dangerfield comedy Back to School.
