Rivian Automotive, a California-based electric vehicle startup, reported first-quarter production of 2,553 vehicles at its Normal, Illinois, manufacturing plant and 1,227 deliveries during the same period, as the company continues to grapple with supply-chain issues affecting the global auto industry.
“These statistics are consistent with the company’s estimates, and the company thinks it is well positioned to meet the 25,000 annual production guidance announced during the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call on March 10, 2022,” the automaker said in a regulatory filing.
Rivian did not offer first-quarter production figures for particular models. Rivian’s shares increased 1.45% to $42.80 in after-hours trade on Tuesday.
Rivian stated during its March earnings call that if it had sufficient parts, including semiconductor chips, it could produce approximately 50,000 units per year of its three cars. The company reported that it has received 83,000 preorders for the R1T and R1S, in addition to the 100,000 EDVs it first ordered from Amazon.
Following the launch of Rivian in the third quarter of last year, the carmaker stated that it will create 1,015 vehicles and deliver 920 by the end of 2021.
According to the company’s first-quarter production report, the combined production of this year and last year totaled 3,568 automobiles as of March 31.
