Anisa Kamadoli Costa, the company’s first chief sustainability officer, will oversee the company’s climate goals, which include achieving carbon neutrality in its own operations by 2028. Rivian Automotive is an electric vehicle startup founded in 2012.
Costa was most recently employed by Tiffany & Co., where he held the position of chief sustainability officer and served as president of the Tiffany & Co. Foundation, according to a statement released on Thursday.
Costa will begin working for Rivian on Monday, April 18, and will report directly to RJ Scaringe, the company’s chief executive officer. She will also serve as the executive director of Rivian’s Forever foundation.

Costa will be responsible for the accounting of carbon emissions as well as other sustainability metrics as part of her sustainability portfolio. According to Rivian, the information will be used to inform company decisions on product design, manufacturing, energy, and charging infrastructure, among other things.
Located in Irvine, California With a goal of being carbon neutral in its own operations by 2028, Rivian has made a commitment. By 2032, the automaker has committed to achieving net neutrality throughout its entire value chain, including suppliers and charging stations for vehicles.
Co-chairman Costa will also be in charge of the implementation of Rivian’s climate goals at the Forever foundation, which was established with 1 percent of the automaker’s equity in the company’s initial public offering last year.
