The United States Military Department (Pentagon) indicated that it would provide more cash in its proposed 2023 defence budget to Congress to maintain a “secure and effective nuclear deterrence.”
US Military Secretary Lloyd Austin revealed in a statement posted on the Pentagon’s website that Congress has approved a $773 billion defence budget for the next fiscal year.
This budget includes “about $56.5 billion for Air Force platforms and systems, over $40.8 billion for the Navy, including nine more warships, and over $12.6 billion for Army and Marine Corps combat vehicle modernization,” he stated.
Austin said, “The Pentagon invests more than $130.1 billion in research and development because the United States recognises the need of enhancing our preparedness in advanced technology, the Internet, space, and artificial intelligence.”
