In the Republic of Uzbekistan, specifically in Khiva City, which has been designated as the OIC City of Tourism, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will host the 12th Session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers (ICTM) on June 2, 2024. The theme of this session is “Sustainable and Resilient Tourism Industry Development.”
The Opening Session of the 12th ICTM will be addressed by His Excellency the Secretary-General of the OIC, Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha.
In the interim, the preparatory meetings for the 12th ICTM will commence on May 31, 2024. The 9th Coordination Committee Meeting on Tourism will commence these meetings, which will be followed by the Senior Officials Meeting. The Senior Officials Meeting will concentrate on the development of decisions through three working sessions, culminating in a Closing Session on June 1, 2024. The proposed resolutions of the meeting will be submitted to the 12th ICTM on 2 June 2024.
In addition to the Closing Session, the 12th ICTM will include two working Sessions. The OIC Framework for Development and Cooperation in the Domain of Tourism will be implemented by the Conference.
Additionally, the 12th ICTM will determine the recipients of the OIC City of Tourism Award for the years 2025 and 2026.
The conference will also address the implementation of the Strategic Roadmap for the development of Islamic tourism, as well as the industry’s progress and the accomplishments of tourism infrastructure projects.
