Twenty-odd years after the original movie, The Goonies, there will be a follow-up with the same cast.
Making the movie might start next summer, and it might come out in theaters in 2026 or 2027.

The 1985 movie, which was based on a story by Steven Spielberg, was about a group of kids from Goon Docks in Astoria, Oregon who go on treasure hunts.

Sean Astin and Corey Feldman, who are both 53 years old now, played Mikey and Mouth, and Josh Brolin, who is 56 years old now, played Mikey’s older brother Brand.
After taking a break from playing for about 30 years, Jeff Cohen, who played Chunk, is now an entertainment lawyer at age 50. Ke Huy Quan, who played Data, won an Oscar in 2023 for Everything, Everywhere, All at Once.
“Hey you guys!” was Sloth’s motto, and he was played by the late John Matuszak, who died at age 38 in 1989.
