According to Football Insider, Liverpool intends to give Sadio Mane a new deal but will not overpay to keep him.
The Senegal international, who turned 30 last week, has just over a year left on his current contract, and no extension talks have progressed.
Mane wants to stay at Anfield, according to a recruitment source, and Liverpool’s powerbrokers want to keep him.
Given their ages, though, owners Fenway Sports Group are wary of giving out big long-term contracts to Mane and Mohamed Salah.
It will come down to finances and both parties compromising, just like it did with the Salah transaction.
Mane will not receive a “big” contract that would destabilise the club’s pay structure, according to the source.
