Go to the island You probably haven’t heard of Europe’s “sunshine island,” which has a beach shack with a Michelin star and white sand. Check out our movie about eight European islands you should visit.
Sunshine Island is a popular vacation spot for Irish people that is only a few hours from the UK. It has some beautiful beaches.
Bornholm is a Danish island that is not very well known. It is in the Baltic Sea, close to Sweden.
Sunshine Island got its name because it gets more sunshine than the rest of Denmark. The sea and rocks on the island are said to make summer last longer.
Even the Danish Travel Awards chose it as the best place to go on vacation in Denmark in 2022 and 2023.
Sunshine Island in Denmark is home to about 40,000 people, though that number goes up during the summer when lots of tourists come to visit.
The fine white sand at Dueodde Beach is what people will want to see first.
The beach is six miles long and has white sand. The Kadeau restaurant is on the beach and has a Michelin star.
The beach shack by the water that has become a popular place to eat got its first star in 2016 and has kept it ever since.
Main dishes start at DKK 150 (£16.92), which is a pretty fair price.
On the island, there are also Naes Beach, Balka Beach, and Sandvig Beach, which is known for its white sand.
Most tourists are likely to go to Rønne, which is Bornholm’s largest town.
The Second World War did a lot of damage to Rønne, so Sweden gave the island 175 red wood houses to help it rebuild.
The island has other places to see, such as Gudhjem, which is one of the most popular summer spots on the island.
The small town is on the coast of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. It is made up of cozy alleys that lead to a busy harbor.
Gudhjem is an open sandwich with smoked herring and chives that you shouldn’t miss. It’s also the town’s speciality.
Svaneke, on the other hand, is a pretty fishing town with narrow streets and half-timbered houses.
Hammershus, the biggest castle ruin in Northern Europe, is another interesting place to visit on the island.
Also, there is Brændesgårdshaven, which is Bornholm’s own amusement park with rides, a bouncy castle, and swimming pools.
Even though Bornholm is close to Sweden, it is easy to get to the rest of Denmark because there is a direct trip from Copenhagen to Copenhagen.
The straight 35-minute flight from Copenhagen to Rønne Bornholm Airport is run by Danish Air Transport (DAT). In September, one-way fares began at £70.
Flights from the UK to Copenhagen take less than two hours, making it easy for people to get there.
You can also take a boat from Ystad on the shore to Rønne, the biggest town on the island.
There are many other beaches in Denmark that aren’t as well known. Hornbæk is one of them. It’s in North Sealand, on the Danish Riviera.
The town of Hornbæk is on the coast and has the biggest beach on the Danish Riviera. It’s just under an hour from Copenhagen, which is Denmark’s main city.
Hornbæk Beach has fine, soft sand and is a Blue Flag beach.
Also, this cheap city break spot is expected to be very popular this year.
