The 10th edition of the International Day of Yoga 2024 will be commemorated by the Embassy of India in Cairo in six different locations of Egypt, with the primary event taking place in Cairo at Al-Horreya Public Park, Zamalek, from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM on June 21, 2024.
The Embassy will conduct “Curtain Raiser Yoga Events” in Hurghada (Social Club), Luxor (Karnak Temple), Ismaila (Al-Mawany Club), Minya (Sports Club), and Alexandria (Bibliotheca) on June 2, 6, 9, 11, and 14, 2024, respectively.
The events are being coordinated in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Governorate of Cairo.
On 11 December 2014, the United Nations declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga (IDY) in recognition of the universal appeal of yoga.
India proposed the draft resolution that established the International Day of Yoga, which was subsequently endorsed by a record-breaking 175 member states.
The objective of the International Day of Yoga is to increase global awareness of the numerous advantages of practicing yoga.
In its resolution, the United Nations General Assembly emphasized the significance of raising awareness of the advantages of practicing yoga worldwide, stating that it offers a comprehensive approach to health and contentment.
