Rashid Al-Shahat, a player for the first team at Al-Ahly club, was found guilty of hitting Mohamed Al-Shaibi, a right back for the Pyramids club, by the Nasr City Misdemeanor Court today (Thursday). The court said that Al-Shahat should spend a year in jail, with his sentence deferred, and pay a 100,000-pound fine. This is because he hit Mohamed Al-Shaibi after the league title game between Al-Ahly and Pyramids.
According to the court’s decision, Hussein Al-Shahat will not be able to join any sports clubs for 5 years.
Mahmoud Al-Khatib was in charge of the Al-Ahly club when it started to act after the Nasr City Misdemeanor Court decided to punish Hussein Al-Shahat, who played wing for the first football team in the Red Castle.
Once the decision to jail Hussein Al-Shahat was made, the first thing that Al-Ahly Club did was talk to their legal expert about making an appeal against the decision. Mahmoud Al-Khatib is the President of Al-Ahly Club.
In addition, Al-Khatib chose to meet with Red Castle Board of Directors members to talk about taking the case to the International Football Association (FIFA). This is because Al-Ahly Club thinks that Al-Shaibi broke the law by going to civil court.
