The 24th edition of the Rotterdam Arab Film Festival (RAFF), which is scheduled to take place in the Netherlands from May 30 to June 2, will recognize Egyptian actor Ahmed Helmy at its opening ceremony.
The distinguished actor will be honored for his extensive career in the fields of art and cinema, as well as his artistic accomplishments.
The RAFF has evolved from the maritime city of Rotterdam into an international festival that is held annually in the city.
It is an artistic platform that is dedicated to the promotion of Middle Eastern and North African films and related activities.
Its purpose is to establish a secure environment for candid discussions regarding political freedom, emancipation, and the human experience.
Helmy, who was born on November 18, 1969, began his professional career in 1993 with the Egyptian Satellite Broadcast.
He made his acting debut in the 1998 critically acclaimed film “Aboud Ala El Hodoud” (Aboud on the Borders), in which he co-starred with Karim Abdel Aziz and Alaa Waley El Din.
Afterward, Helmy rapidly transitioned to prominent roles in films such as “Omar 2000,” “El Nazer” (2000), “El Selem We Al Tho’ban” (2001), and “Sahar El Layali” (2003).
