Coeur d’Alene, have a happy Mother’s Day! On behalf of the Coeur d’Alene Regional Chamber, we want to wish all the mothers out there a wonderful day!
On Mother’s Day, we want to pay tribute to a special mother in our city, Joan Ford, who is known as “A Mother to Coeur d’Alene.”
If you’ve met Joan, you know how kind she is to everyone who comes to our Coeur d’Alene Visitors Center on 1st and Lakeside. Joan is in charge of the Visitors Center. Because of this, she is the first person many people who come to our beautiful city see. She welcomes everyone with the warmth of a mother.
“I love meeting new people! Many of them are visiting Coeur d’Alene for the first time, and they’re just nice people!” — Joan Ford, who runs the visitor centre
Joan’s first job with the chamber was as a volunteer more than ten years ago. After helping out for years on her own time, she was asked to work at the front desk, where she now manages all the volunteers, helps with different CDA Chamber projects, books facility rentals, and makes sure that monthly reports on local tourism data are sent out.
Since Joan started out as a tourist, she is a perfect fit for the part. On a weekend trip to Coeur d’Alene to see her son, she fell in love with the town and ended up buying a home there. Since then, more than 11 years ago, she has been happy to call Coeur d’Alene her home.
“The location is out of this world! It’s safe and everyone there is nice. Merchants recommend each other, and everyone in the neighbourhood knows everyone else. It’s a real neighbourhood!” — Joanne Ford
The way people live in our area is really something special. Because of this, the chamber really wants to make a difference in the community. Through events like the upcoming Hearts For Heroes Awards ceremony, the chamber can bring people together and show how great its members are. There and at our May Upbeat Breakfast at the Coeur d’Alene Resort, where we’ll talk about travel, tourism, and summer in Coeur d’Alene, we’d love for you to join us.
Tourist season is coming up soon. And Joan will be ready to welcome them all, of course. Thank you, Joan, for really showing what it means to make a difference in the community and keep Coeur d’Alene’s unique and amazing quality of life. Have a good Mother’s Day!
Our goal is to serve our members. We will talk about a different Insider Advantage each month. This is our chance to show how our mission is being carried out. In April, we focused on education. In May, the focus will be on improving the community and quality of life. Come to the events we have coming up:
