Summary
Jurgen Klopp’s exit from Liverpool, according to Mohamed Salah, won’t affect his future with the team.
When the season ends, Klopp will leave his role as manager. Many have predicted that this might mean major changes at Anfield as the team gets ready for a new chapter in its history.
Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and others who have 18 months left on their contracts are among those who are expected to follow the manager out the door, but the Egyptian is adamant that he won’t let Klopp’s leaving affect his own choices.
Will Mohamed Salah leave Liverpool?
Salah said to Sky Sports, “No, no-it’s life, it’s part of life now that everything moves.”
“Players have already left the team. Players of great importance left the team. Another key player for the team is the manager, who is departing. I will eventually leave the club, but Klopp’s departure won’t have an effect.”
Salah and Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne are reportedly top transfer targets for the Saudi Pro League this summer, according to 90min.
Salah continued by explaining how he learned about Klopp’s intention to step down this summer, acknowledging that at first he thought the German was going to sign a new deal with Liverpool.
He laughed, “It was weird.” “We don’t typically hold meetings at 10:30. It’s report time at 10:30 and training at 12. I was shocked to learn that there would be a meeting at 10:30.
“When [Klopp’s] representative arrived, I thought, ‘Oh, he’s renewing his contract.'” Then, five minutes before to the meeting, Virg [van Dijk] asked, “Are you aware of the purpose of the meeting?” No, I replied. “The manager is leaving,” he declared. I thought, laughing. “The manager is really leaving,” he remarked. ‘Really, why?’ I asked. “No idea,” he remarked.
“The players were asking questions when the manager entered, and he just answered them. It was strange as nobody had any prior knowledge, there had been no media coverage, and he had only mentioned it once without even preparing us.
“That was a weird day for us, but it’s football.”
