Estée Lauder has accomplished much in the cosmetics sector over the past few decades, but the firm has never before launched one of its own products into space. The business stated on September 18 that it will launch one of its star products into space at the end of the month: the Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex.
According to a press release, the astronauts aboard the International Space Station will photograph and video the serum for Estée Lauder to subsequently utilise for promotional purposes on its social media accounts. Estée Lauder’s global brand president, Stéphane de La Faverie, said in a statement, “We are happy to reaffirm our leadership position as the first cosmetics brand to enter space.” “NASA is at the vanguard of space exploration, and Estée Lauder, a pioneer in skincare innovation, is thrilled to support the great work NASA is doing to foster a space economy by launching the second-ever commercial product.”
This announcement follows NASA’s 2019 commitment to make its space station available for commercial usage for marketing reasons.
Phil McAlister, NASA’s director of commercial spaceflight development, stated, “NASA is opening the International Space Station to industry as part of its efforts to establish a thriving low-Earth orbit economy.” “Agreements like this directly assist NASA’s general plan to encourage the commercialization of low-Earth orbit by U.S. businesses by showcasing new markets that use the unique space environment.”
The best-selling Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex contains hyaluronic acid to trap moisture into the skin for up to 72 hours and decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It was the first cosmetic product to include hyaluronic acid when it appeared in the 1980s, but it has undergone a succession of improvements as skin-care technology has advanced.
The serum will launch on September 29 and reach the space station on October 3.
