During a cultural session conducted in conjunction with the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation in Jordan Forum, Egypt’s Minister of Culture Nevin Kilani and Jordan’s Minister of Culture Haifa’a Najjar discussed the importance of culture and the arts in promoting development.
The Egyptian Minister emphasised the significance of preserving cultural heritage, stating that it serves as the basis for cultural initiatives and embodies the national identity.
In light of the current threat to culture in the Arab world, she also emphasised the critical need for collective efforts to protect heritage.
“To aid in the preservation of Egypt’s cultural heritage, the Ministry of Culture established the Egyptian Heritage House in the Heritage Crafts Centre,” she explained.
Kilani praised Jordan’s endeavours to integrate traditional crafts with the economy, a model for cultural industries, in addition.
