Thursday, Jordan’s Minister of Culture, Haifa’a Najjar, remarked that Egypt’s selection as the honoured visitor at the 37th Jerash festival would be a remarkable choice.
During a meeting with her Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Nevin Kilani, at the Royal Cultural Centre (RCC) in Amman, Jordan, Najjar made her remarks.
The two ministers celebrated the longstanding bilateral ties between their countries and discussed methods to expand cultural ties and cultural industries.
Kilani thanked Jordan for selecting Egypt as the first visitor of honour and acknowledged the extensive participation of Jordanians in cultural and artistic events in Egypt.
Kilani also mentioned that the Jordanian-Egyptian agreement on cultural exchange was renewed last year, paving the way for future collaborative activities and the exchange of translation expertise.
In response, Najjar emphasised the significance of cultural ties in bolstering historic bilateral ties and lauded joint cooperation in the heritage field. She also acknowledged Egypt’s support for UNESCO programmes in Jordan.
Since 1981, the annual Jerash Festival has featured vocal performances, folkloric dances, opera performances, and traditional handicrafts.
