The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Abu Zaid, reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for the Libyan/Libyan solution path, emphasising the significance of respecting the role of Libyan institutions as they carry out their duties without any external interference.
This is in the context of monitoring the preparations for the upcoming Libyan elections, the efforts of the relevant Libyan institutions, and the related international interactions.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman added that Egypt reaffirms the central role of the House of Representatives and the State Council, in accordance with their respective powers under the Skhirat Agreement, in order to expeditiously put in place all the frameworks required for the simultaneous holding of presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya.
It urged all international parties to adhere to these irreplaceable foundations and determinants, to respect the will of the Libyan people, and not to take any measures that would circumvent the role of institutions, in order to avoid further complicating the situation, to protect Libya’s stability and sovereignty, and to fulfil the Libyan people’s aspirations.
