This is not an April Fool’s Day prank. Or, at the very least, we hope not.
Jim Carrey casually shared a potentially explosive tidbit: He is “pretty serious” about his decision to retire from acting. Carrey stated that after 40 years of filmmaking, he has developed an appreciation for a tranquil life.
“I feel as though I have enough, and this is something you will never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists. I’ve accomplished enough. Carrey, 60, stated recently in an interview with “Access Hollywood” that he is “enough.”
The actor was speaking about his latest film, “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” which hits theatres on April 8. According to the writer, country diva Dolly Parton wanted Carrey to play her musical collaborator Porter Wagoner in a biopic about her. While Carrey expressed admiration for Parton, he added in a matter-of-fact tone, “Well, I’m retiring.”
When questioned about his seriousness, he stated, “Fairly serious.”
“If the angels deliver me a gold-inked screenplay that tells me something is going to be critical for people to see, I may continue along the road, but I’m taking a break,” Carrey stated.
Carrey’s films have grossed more than $2.8 billion in North America and over $4.6 billion globally, with his North American films grossing an average of roughly $20 million on opening weekends and approximately $81 million throughout the course of their run, according to IMDb.
“Well, regardless of what happens, I’m going to continue to exist in the world,” he told “Access Hollywood.” “And we have a greater impact on the world than we realise. We do not have to be multihyphenates in order to have an impact on the world.”
