Meta introduced Threads, a text-based social networking platform, to worldwide acclaim.
Threads, which allows Instagram logins, was expected to give a new way to share ideas and experiences.
Twitter’s rate limitations and other restrictions decreased user interest around the app’s debut. Many considered Threads an alternative to Twitter, now X.
In an earlier interview, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri said that Threads was not meant to replace Twitter.
He said Threads aimed to create a “public square” for Instagram groups that haven’t adopted Twitter.
Mosseri told the Washington Post that Threads would offer Direct Message (DM) messaging.
Threads originally surprised users by not having a DM function. Mosseri promised to add this functionality shortly.
Mosseri told the Washington Post that Threads’ development goals include user messaging.
