Raja Casablanca of Morocco filed a complaint against Al Ahly for what they described as ‘bad officiating.’
Raja lost 2-1 to Al Ahly in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals on Saturday at the Al Salam Stadium.
Al Ahly seized the lead with a penalty and extended their lead minutes later, until Mohamed Zrida of Raja Casablanca struck on the stroke of half-time.
The game included several contentious officiating decisions, the most infamous of which was Al Ahly’s penalty kick that resulted in the game’s opening goal.
Despite referee Jean Jacques Ndala’s use of VAR, many questioned his decision, arguing that the visitors’ defender did not handle the ball properly, and Raja did not hesitate to confront the problem directly.
