Chris Pratt addressed the criticism he has received for being cast in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
In September of 2021, it was reported that he will be the protagonist of the video game, drawing controversy for a number of reasons.
Charles Martinet, who voices Mario in video games, was disliked by some for being passed up for the position.
There are also others who are not Chris fans, with many believing he is already overexposed.
Then there’s the fact that he won’t have Mario’s distinctive accent, which is just, like, no.
The criticism, however, has little effect on Chris. In fact, he says he “completely” comprehends the fear that fans have about a new actor portraying the popular role.
“There is a devoted fan base, of which I am a member. I got it, “Chris informed Gizmodo.
“The majority of people do not want anything of this nature to get muddled. People hold it in high regard. They are vigilant. I appreciate that very much.”
Chris has also stated in the past that he believes he performed Mario’s performance credit, despite the character’s modifications.
“I worked closely with the directors and tried a few different ideas before settling on something I’m really pleased of and can’t wait for the public to see and hear,” he told Variety.
