Cystic disease takes the life of a CBBC star
“This morning Chelsie’s condition deteriorated rapidly and she became unresponsive,” her husband Glyn stated on social media on Sunday, April 3rd. “It is with great sadness that I notify everyone that our dearest and most lovely Chelsie died this afternoon at 2.45pm.
“It was a really short procedure, and she was in no discomfort. I’m sure you’ll all want to convey their sympathies, but we ask that you keep them to the comments section below during this difficult time.”
Glyn Whibley afterwards added a touching homage to his late wife to his remarks.
“I cannot express the sadness I am experiencing now that you are not here,” he wrote. “Waking up without you beside me seems so weird, and I’m hoping this is all a bad dream… but regrettably, I know it isn’t. I knew this day would come from the first time we met, but I also knew you were the one I wanted to spend my life with… and it has been an extraordinary life… one I would not trade for anything in the world.
“You were an example to me and so many others with your tenacity and desire to defy the doctors and continue living. We’ve created so many experiences together that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life, and I’m grateful that you chose to spend your life with me!”
Cystic fibrosis, according to the NHS, is a genetic disorder that affects the lungs and digestive system, resulting in mucus accumulation. It often results in lung infections and intestinal issues.
As an incurable disease, it often begins in infancy and progresses over time. While there are therapies available to alleviate symptoms and enhance quality of life, life expectancy is unfortunately reduced for the approximately 10,600 persons living with the condition in the United Kingdom.
