Based on current demand, Cadillac might produce up to 200k Lyriq EVs per year.
Production of the Lyriq electric crossover may be up to 200,000 vehicles per year, officials claimed on Monday before the first 2023 Lyriq was produced at Spring Hill Assembly Plant in Tennessee.
An annual production of less than 200,000 automobiles is possible at the Tennessee factory. GMC Acadia and Cadillac XT5 and XT6 are also manufactured at the same facility. As of present, they are being constructed alongside the Lyriq.
Global Cadillac Vice President Rory Harvey said: “We have an incremental ramp-up, but we have the flexibility to flex depending on client demand. “And the Lyriq is in very high demand among consumers.”
GM President Mark Reuss said the company ultimately expects to add manufacturing of forthcoming electric cars to the factory.
According to him, “the agility… is inherent in the industrial system.” He went on to explain. “This facility also produces various hot crossovers, like the XT5, XT6, and Acadia. Those things have a lot of legs.”
From the 19th of May, Cadillac will begin taking orders for the Lyriq. When the Lyriq made its debut late last summer, reservations for the crossing were secured in less than 10 minutes.
He added that “the Cadillac Lyriq represents another key milestone in GM’s commitment to an all-electric future” in a statement Monday.
