Brian Houston’s wife has stated that she will “forever” support her husband following his resignation as Hillsong Global Senior Pastor this week.
Houston resigned following internal investigations into two complaints over the last decade, one involving “inappropriate” text messages sent to a Hillsong staff member and the other involving allegations that he entered the hotel room of a woman who was not his wife.
The Hillsong board announced Houston’s resignation on Wednesday, claiming he violated the Church’s Pastor’s Code of Conduct.
Bobbie Houston, his 45-year-old wife, has now commented on her husband’s resignation via a social media post.
She said that it had been a “really difficult week,” but pledged to support her husband.
“We appreciate your kind words and support. It has been observed. Additionally, I felt. Additionally, “On Instagram, she stated.
“I’m OK. It’s been a particularly cruel week – but I will always stand beside the man I’ve loved and walked alongside for 45 years.
“I am the only person who truly understands his nature, character, and integrity.”
Laura Toggs, their daughter, has also spoken out on social media about her heartache.
She used Instagram to express her “broken heart” and “anxiety, humiliation, and crushing pain,” but she also expressed her love for her mother and father.
“I chose to text my dear father a thousand times more ‘I love you’ – and I choose my bravest of brave mum,” she explained.
“When you have a platform, others learn from your pain, because you suffer aloud with a platform. When you grieve, you do so in public.
“When you’re in pain, you’re in public. And there is nowhere to hide… and your wounds are scrutinised by everyone.
“When you LOVE deeply, you will grieve deeply, there is no way about it.
“If we can be publicly humiliated indefinitely, I am tempted to publicly express my terrible pain.”
She stated that in the midst of the tempest, she was turning to Jesus.
“However, today, I choose once again to put my deep anguish at Jesus’ feet…and I choose coffee,” she added.
“And, as exhausting as it may be, I choose to follow the higher route once more, guarding my heart with the utmost compassion, humility, and grace.”
