Man City the two get ready for their final Premier League match, Jurgen Klopp has praised Pep Guardiola, calling the Spaniard the finest manager in the world.
The duo have been dominating English football for the past few years, but Klopp will stand down as Liverpool’s manager in the summer and has vowed never to lead another English team.
Prior to Sunday’s crucial match between Liverpool and Manchester City, Klopp expressed his admiration for Guardiola without holding back and praised the City manager for helping him advance in his career.
The aspect of Guardiola that Klopp finds most admirable is “the way he influenced football, easy as that,” the manager disclosed. After that, he won a lot of trophies during his career, but you get the impression that he acts as though he has never won anything before when you watch him on the touchline. That is simply amazing. He’s exceptional in a lot of ways.
“Because I handle the work myself, I recognize quality when I see it, and Pep is unquestionably that. He has done so many various things with his teams over the years; clearly, he was always possession-based, but he also plays long balls when needed. like, inserts Ederson a few years ago, and then, without warning, [Sergio] Aguero waits 20 yards in the opposing half before firing the ball there, and you realize, “Well, that’s hard to defend now,” which presents the next challenge. He engaged in a wide range of activities over the years.
“How can I evaluate bosses from the past, I’m not sure. However, he is without a doubt the best manager I have ever had.”
Klopp went on, “I never felt irritated with Pep. I don’t know them, but I was aware that about 3,000 football players liked the game despite being better than me. And I had no idea that any of the others was superior to me. Thus, I have no issues at all with it.
I was never irritated by that. My ability to devise strategies to defeat these clubs and win these games has undoubtedly improved as a manager. I recently found out that I have a clean record against Pep. To be honest, I have no idea how it happened! However, everything is OK. I don’t want to come out as someone who is content to be here, and I know that I’m really competent at what I do. I also can’t handle these kinds of [managers]. I’m aware of my goodness.”But you ask about the greatest, and he is the finest, in my opinion, bang. It has nothing to do with me, which is why I say it. That’s how often we see each other: twice, three times, or four times a year. The rest of the time, I complete the work without having to deal with Pep Guardiola, which is actually very fantastic! Everything is alright.
Liverpool leads City by one point going into the match, and both teams will be closely watching Saturday’s match between Brentford and other championship contenders Arsenal.
