The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in Fustat, in partnership with the European Union Delegation in Cairo, hosted a classical musical evening entitled “Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony Ode to Joy” in honor of the 200th anniversary of the premiere of the Ninth Symphony “Ode to Joy” by the renowned composer Ludwig van Beethoven.
In the evening, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Egyptian Philharmonic Maestro Ahmed El Saedi, performed Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. One of the most significant and historical musical compositions in the world, the “Choral Symphony,” was received with great admiration by the audience.
The evening was marked by a significant public participation, which included a distinguished group of former ministers, public figures, ambassadors of foreign countries in Egypt, and numerous artists and music enthusiasts.
Former Secretary-General of the Arab League and Foreign Minister Amr Moussa, former Moroccan Foreign Minister and Minister of Culture Mohammed Bin Issa, and archaeologist and former Minister of Antiquities Dr. Zahi Hawass were among the attendees.
Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, the Executive Director of the Museum Authority, delivered a speech on behalf of Mr. Ahmed Issa, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, to commence the evening.
He extended a warm greeting to the attendants and expressed his enthusiasm for this artistic evening, which underscores the museum’s status as a cultural institution that supports a variety of cultural and artistic events.
He stated in his speech that the tourism industry in Egypt has recently achieved favorable results as a result of the implementation of the national strategy for tourism development, which has helped the country achieve its objective of welcoming 30 million visitors by 2028.
