This week, the latest “Batman” took the top spot at the box office in the United States.
It spent $57 million on its opening night on Friday, significantly more than any other film.
“Uncharted” came in second with $3 million, bringing the total to $92.2 million; “Dog,” a feel-good pet movie, came in third with $1.6 million, bringing the total to $35.6 million.
Robert Pattinson plays Batman, Colin Farrell plays the Penguin, Zoe Kravitz plays Catwoman, Andy Serkis plays Batman/Bruce Wayne’s devoted butler, Alfred, Geoffrey Wright plays Commissioner Gordon, and Paul Dano plays The Riddler.
The film also stars Peter Sarsgaard, John Turturro, and Jeffrey Wright.
The reboot is set during Wayne’s second year as the Dark Knight. DC Films is in charge of production, while Warner Bros. Pictures is in charge of distribution.
Matt Reeves directed the film, which he co-wrote with Peter Craig.
The film has a lengthy runtime of two hours and fifty-five minutes, making it the franchise’s longest standalone film to date.
