Medhat El-Adl, a renowned Egyptian producer and screenwriter, is scheduled to attend the 12th iteration of the International Film Festival in Dakhla. El-Adl will serve as a jury member for the “Dakhla Project,” a novel initiative that emphasizes the festival’s Moroccan, African, and Arab components. The objective of the “Dakhla Project” is to offer educational and financial assistance to long-film projects that are currently in development, regardless of whether they are fictional or documentary. It is intended for producers and directors who are located in the Arab world, Africa, or the diaspora.
Ten film projects from Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Canada, Morocco, Tunisia, and Egypt will be subjected to evaluation by the “Dakhla Project” jury. This international committee is comprised of Moroccan director Farida Benlyazid, Burkinabé Ouagadougou Festival delegate Alex Moussa Sawadogo, Senegalese director Moussa Touré, and Egyptian writer and screenwriter Medhat El-Adl.
Veteran Moroccan actress Sanae El Aloui will also be a guest at the festival, which will take place from June 3 to 9. El Aloui, who resided in France and pursued cinema in Paris and theater at the esteemed Cours Florent, has been involved in more than forty productions in a variety of languages, including French, Spanish, English, German, and Arabic. She has played prominent roles in the Spanish film “Basque de Sylvia” and the foreign film “A Hunter Catches a Woman.”
El Aloui’s Moroccan film credits include “Wad Al-Ward,” directed by Lahcen Zinoun, for which she received the New Talent award in Rome and the Best Actress award at the Tangier National Film Festival. She has recently pursued a career in screenwriting. In the series “Between the Palaces” and “Dreams of Girls,” which were both broadcast on MBC5 last Ramadan and garnered substantial viewership, she has been viewed by Moroccan audiences in two significant roles.
