On Monday, Apple unveiled Vision Pro, its first mixed-reality headset.
At Apple’s 2023 Worldwide Developers Conference, the company made this news.
“Vision Pro is a revolutionary new type of computer that blends the physical and digital worlds together in seamless ways… Apple CEO Tim Cook said at the company’s annual developer conference that Apple Vision Pro would revolutionise “how we communicate, collaborate, work, and enjoy entertainment.”
The gadget reminds one of a large diving mask with a wire sticking out of it. Vision Pro’s multi-modal interface frees the user from the confines of the screen by allowing them to interact with it using their eyes, hands, and voice.
What’s more, “you can see, hear, and interact with digital content just like it’s in your physical space,” Cook explained.
That it’s the first Apple device “you look through and not at” was a major point of emphasis.
Neither “virtual reality” nor “metaverse” were mentioned once during Apple’s keynote. Apple insiders and VR enthusiasts have speculated about its headgear for years.
