First-base umpire Greg Gibson ejected Richardson in the top of the third while instructing the defence. As for Nakken, she’s doing her job as a first-base coach:
Nakken, 31, has been with the Giants since 2014 as a baseball operations intern. She now works for manager Gabe Kapler as an assistant coach. She’s previously worked on outfield and base-running instruction, and in January 2020, she became the first female full-time MLB coach.
“I feel it’s my duty to thank those who have helped me get here,” she told MLB.com shortly after taking the job. “I never saw coaching. For so long, this job has been hidden. I’m excited to take on this role and make an impact for this organisation I adore. But I’m glad that now girls can see that baseball has a job on the field. It’s awesome.”
For the first time in the regular season, Nakken coached first base during a “summer camp” exhibition game in July 2020.
What is the identity of Alyssa Nakken? The assistant coach for the Giants is the first female on-field coach in Major League Baseball history.
