Caden Tellier, the quarterback for Morgan Academy, passed away on Saturday due to a brain injury sustained during the Selma private school’s home opener on Friday night, according to his family’s social media posts.
Caden’s parents, Jamie Tellier and Arsella Slagel Tellier, announced his passing on their Facebook pages on Saturday evening. “Our son, Caden Tellier, has encountered Jesus in person,” the post affirms. “We are grateful for all of your prayers and hold them in high regard for the challenging days that lie ahead.”
“Everyone who has encountered Caden has encountered his kindness, generosity, and love. In accordance with his character, he is once again contributing to society.” His lifestyle has had an impact on the lives of many, and his departure will now save more lives. We will walk out of his earthly body with him in the coming days, confident that his spirit is celebrating in paradise.
The post indicated that the service arrangements would be finalized in the near future.
Morgan was competing at Southern Academy. The injury occurred during the third quarter. Caden was transported to a hospital in Birmingham via airlift.
His condition was the subject of some uncertainty earlier in the day. The death of Caden was announced on the AISA Facebook page by Michael McLendon, the director of the Alabama Independent Schools Association. The post was removed after approximately an hour, and a new post was published that indicated that he was in critical condition due to a brain injury.
Morgan Academy is “suspending” all school activities in the upcoming week, according to McLendon.
