Covington, 34, and Masvidal, 37, reconnected outside of Papi Steak on Monday at approximately 11.30 p.m. Covington and Masvidal were previously acquainted.
While being prevented from getting any closer to Covington, Masvidal can be heard yelling, “Don’t talk about my kids,” according to a video posted by TMZ.
“He’s over here swinging, trying to come at me,” Covington is overheard saying in the video. “I ran out the back of the room,” Covington adds. Covington then turned to Bob Menery, a social media star and podcast host, and inquired, “How would he even know I’m in the building?”
An earlier video on Monday, Menery posted to his Instagram storey, showing Covington and the group’s meeting place, Papi Steak. The rapper @papisteak referred to Covington as “the king of motherfucking Miami,” and Menery wrote on Twitter, “@papisteak is that s****.”
Masvidal then took to Twitter, where he added his own message and tagged Covington in the post.
‘I’m calling this the’show-your-face challenge,’ you understand? What exactly is going on? “I’m originally from Dade County,” Masvidal explained. “If you’re going to talk that shit, you’ve got to back it up.” “That’s just how things work in my city, man.”
The following was later tweeted by Menery: “Never had a problem with (Masvidal). His decision to handle his ongoing ‘beef’ in a manner that has already been decided in a regulated platform has left me extremely disappointed. @ufc.”
