Virgil van Dijk believes a historic and “nearly impossible” quadruple for Liverpool would be a “dream” come true.
In February, Liverpool won the Carabao Cup, and they are still in the running for the FA Cup, Premier League, and Champions League. On Saturday, Jurgen Klopp’s side defeated championship rivals Manchester City to get to the FA Cup final.
“No one has ever done the quadruple, and there’s a reason for it,” Van Dijk added.
With seven games remaining, Liverpool is one point behind league leaders City.
They play Manchester United on Tuesday and have a difficult run-in to the finish of the season, which includes games against Merseyside rivals Everton and Champions League hopefuls Tottenham.
In the Champions League’s last four, Liverpool will face Villarreal, while Pep Guardiola’s City will face Real Madrid.
“All this discussion about quadruple or Treble is from the outside world, and it could add to our strain,” Van Dijk remarked.
“Winning every competition you enter is something that everyone wishes for, but we’ll see what the future holds.”
“Anything can happen, including with other teams.”
