The show “Monster High” is being turned into a movie.
Mattel, Inc. is working with Universal Pictures and Akiva Goldsman, an Oscar-winning director and screenwriter, and his company, Weed Road, to make a live-action movie based on the popular fashion dolls that are thought to be the children of monsters from tale.

There will be production by Mattel Films head Robbie Brenner and Akiva Goldsman. For Mattel, Kevin McKeon and Arturo Thur De Koos are in charge of the project, and for Weed Road, Greg Lessans is in charge. Lexi Barta, SVP of production at Universal Pictures, and Jacqueline Garell, Creative Executive of Production Development, are in charge of the project for the company.
This is the second time that the popular series, which started in 2010, has brought its toys to life. From 2010 to 2017, 15 cartoon TV shows and movies were made.
Nickelodeon started a new animation show in 2022 that is now in its second season. In the same year, Nickelodeon and Paramount+ released the live-action movie “Monster High: The Movie,” and in 2023, a sequel came out.
Universal and director Ari Sandel were working on a movie version of the book back in 2015, but it never came together.
American Girl, Barney, Hot Wheels, Bob the Builder, Magic 8 Ball, Major Matt Mason, Masters of the Universe, Matchbox, Polly Pocket, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, Thomas & Friends, UNO, View-Master, and Wishbone are some of Mattel’s other original properties that are being turned into movies.
The holiday family story “Christmas Balloon,” which is based on brand-new IP, is also being made by Mattel Films.
