Atkinson recounted how Gorka Marquez’s Strictly Come Dancing co-star got involved while the pair were both feeling’resentful’.
The former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale star opened up about the public’s ‘grief’ after the birth of her daughter Mia in 2019.
It happened shortly after Gorka returned to work, and less than two years after they met on the famous BBC One dance programme. After bringing their two-year-old daughter Gemma home from the hospital, the Spanish dancer went back on the road with Here Come The Boys.
“We got a lot of flak,” Gemma added. ‘What type of parent chooses work above his child?’ someone messaged him. “How can they expect him to finance this child without working?”
“But I loathed his going back on tour,” she told The Sun. I had no idea he was resentful of my being at home.”
The Hits Radio DJ from Bury said she got a text from Giovanni asking her to check on Gorka, who was equally as distraught as she was. Giovanni informed Gemma that her then-boyfriend had opted not to go out after the concert.
“I FaceTimed him and he was unhappy in his hotel room alone, saying, ‘I just want to return home.'” “I’m not here.” – Gemma “I became outraged and exclaimed, ‘Oh my gosh, I thought you were having a blast,’ to which he answered, ‘You’re insane!’
We’ll know next time that the grass isn’t always greener, but we have to do what’s best for the family.”
The happy pair, who got engaged on Valentine’s Day last year, had a rough time welcoming Mia. Gemma previously opened out about Mia’s frightening birth, which saw her undergo an emergency C-section when doctors saw her baby’s heart rate had decreased, and nearly die from a haemorrhage.
But Gemma has a very good reason for wanting Mia to have a sibling.
“We would want to give Mia a sibling. Gorka and I are the only two. “It’s good to grow up with someone,” she told The Sun. “Without my sister Nina, I don’t think I would have gotten through my father’s death.” “I wish Mia had that type of support.”
