When Leo Kearse made jokes about Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, Victoria Coren Mitchell said that they were “racist.”
Zaghari-Ratcliffe was released from prison in Iran after the UK paid a debt of about £400 million. The comic on GB News made a joke about how “ungrateful” was an Iranian word and said that she had been “radicalised.”
If this “stumbly” and “cackling” and “racist” is what GB News puts out as a “TRAILER,” “what on earth is the rest of it like?” tweeted Coren Mitchell.
According to VictoriaCoren, my comments about Nazanin Zaghari-Markle are “racist,” Kearse said in a tweet. Can anyone explain this to me? It’s even if I put myself in the mindset of a “overthinking, self-loathing, white saviour wokeist,” I can’t find racism.
The host of Only Connect said: “Zaghari-Markle??” I don’t know if the irony is worse if you meant that on purpose or if you typed it by mistake! Aw, I’m sorry. You can say what you want, and I respect your right to do that. I’m a big fan of comedy. I just thought the show looked bad.
Using a long series of tweets, Coren Mitchell explained why she thought the remarks were racist. She also said that a comedian has the right to make jokes about what they want, but also to be called out for it.
People aren’t my kind. I let everyone down!
You’re a comedian and you’re making a joke. I get that and respect it. I didn’t like that video clip at all. That’s not true.
There was a tweet from Victoria Coren Mitchell on March 24, 2022.
Then, Kearse said he was talking about a person, not a race. He said he was the victim of a hate crime.
To say someone is racist without proof or justification should be a hate crime. Online, he said that calling someone racist is a simple way to make people angry and violent against them.
She started a witch hunt against me, then couldn’t back up the accusations of witchery, and made me read a 5,000 word essay. This shows both the heights of her power and the depth of her moral character.
Coren Mitchell said last month that she was sorry for Jimmy Carr when he made a joke about the gypsy Holocaust. She said that people might think she was being hypocritical for calling out Kearse, but she didn’t care.
“I’ve written about Jim Davidson, I’ve spoken out about Jeremy Clarkson’s joke about shooting strikers, and I’ve always been happy for your freedom,” she told him.
‘Comedy is the best art form, and freedom is as important to it as oxygen is to plants.’
It has been a long time since Coren Mitchell has talked about the Zaghari-Ratcliffe family. The charity worker’s husband has worked hard to get his wife home.
Before this week, we told you how GB News was trying out a panel show with Kearse and another comic, Diane Spencer, as team captains and Steve N Allen as host. Spencer was also in the Zaghari-Ratcliffe clip.
