Thursday was a big day for Portugal at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. They beat Vietnam 2-0 to keep their dreams of making it to the knockout rounds alive.
Telma Encarnacao and Kika Nazareth scored goals for the first-timers in their first game at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. This gave them the win.
Portugal could make it to the next round if they shocked the world and beat the reigning winners, the USA.
Vietnam has now lost twice to Portugal and New Zealand and has no chance of winning.
“The United States will be a totally different game,” Portugal’s coach Francisco Neto said. “Even though we won today, there are a lot of things we can do better.”
