On May 7-8, the festival “BoysunBahori,” the long-awaited celebration of environmental regeneration, national traditions, and folklore, will begin in the Boysun district’s mountain village of Padang.
The event is now being meticulously prepared in collaboration with the Republic of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Culture, the Surkhandarya region’s county administration, and a number of other regional organisations.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan’s resolution on February 7, 2022, “on the organisation and holding measures of the International Folklore Festival “BoysunBahori,” more than 200 representatives of our country’s folklore communities will participate in the traditional festival, demonstrating their region’s clothing, songs, and folklore.
The famous festival’s location in the District of Boysun has unique significance, profound meaning, and a rich intangible cultural legacy, as Boysun’s cultural history was designated by UNESCO as “the Pearl of the oral and intangible heritage of mankind” in 2001. In May 2002, the Khushmanzara district hosted the first open Folklore Festival including artists from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
The festival, which mixes distinct national values and customs, incorporates national wrestling, kite competitions, chillak, ulakkupkari, and other folk games activities.
At the festival’s conclusion, the best folklore and ethnographic teams, as well as sports and folk games, will be recognised.
